I took this picture because I always wonder who these people in the streets holding signs are.
It’s good to see anyone participating in politics. The only thing you hope is that they also read and vote based on what they learn and need in their community.
Why do they do it? What do they get from the person?
For me, money would not be enough… You better be able to solve some actual problems that effect me.
I think this guys name is Jimmy!
I met him riding my bike to work.
It was not so long ago that Shirley Franklin was running for Mayor. Now it is two terms later, she is stepping down, and Kasim Reed is competing with Mary Norwood for that job.
I remember Shirley Franklin was on a mission to fill in all the potholes and I thought of that as I rode past this area and saw the ripples next to the curb where the pavement is, for some reason, buckling.
During that race, I was working at Hot 107.9 known first as 97.5 and we had an on-air panel discussion. Ryan Cameron asked me to come in and participate. I asked the candidates including Mayor Franklin what would be done to improve public transportation, create a better infrastructure, and decrease the homeless population.
I never saw any of those things change or improve much.
I can’t remember in my lifetime really solidly being able to point at any one political group or person that revolutionized or changed anything. The problems are always bigger than just one person.
That’s up to the people.
I know that all revolution and all change comes from those who have the time, the energy, and the assumed freedom to work for change.
People like this kid and I hope that he changes something for the better.
Because holding signs and freezing his ass of for a politician isn’t going to do it.
I am pretty sure Jimmy can change something.
